PADI Open Water Scuba Diver, PADI Jr. Open Water Scuba Diver or qualifying certification from another training organization equivalent


Age Requirements

The PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Driver Course is for ages 15 Years and Older

The PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver Course ages 12 to 14 years old.


Swimming Requirements

Participants must be able to swim. You do not need to be Olympic swimmers. You just need to be comfortable in the water and pass a basic swim test.


Waivers and Liability Releases

All participants will need to have a completed set of liability releases signed and dated prior to any in water training. Participants under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian signatures as well. No exceptions.


Course Duration

The duration of the PADI Advanced or Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver Course is between 1 ½ and 2 ½ days depending on the style of academics you choose. The course is performance-based so we do not like to rush. We want to make sure everyone is safe and fully understands the skills of the day. So there is a start time but never a set finish time.


Certification Process

Once a student has completed all of their performance requirements, we will process their certification card. Once processed the student will be a certified scuba diver.


Certification Card

As soon as we process your certification you will receive an email with a temporary card good for 30 days. Your permanent card should arrive within 1 to 2 weeks after certification. Don’t panic if you’re going on a trip. Once we process your card immediately you are listed in the system as a certified diver. This information can be accessed by any dive shop anywhere in the world. So even if you forget your card you can still dive.

Course Overview

PADI Advanced or Jr. Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver Course

In the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course, there’s a long list of scuba specialty dives to try. You do five different specialty dives all under the expert guidance of your PADI Instructor. No formal classroom session, just some knowledge reviews and a lot of diving and fun.

To finish your PADI Advanced Open Water Course you will complete five adventure dives including the following mandatory core dives, PADI Deep Dive and Underwater Navigation. We have chosen the following 3 PADI Adventure Dives for our PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Program which do not require you to rent additional equipment. Wreck Diver, Drift Diver and Peak Performance Buoyancy

PADI Adventure or Jr. Adventure Diver Course

The Adventure Diver course is a subset of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. Have you always wanted to trydigital underwater photography, fish identification or dry suit diving? There’s a long list of scuba adventures you can take part in during this program. Complete three Adventure Dives and you earn the Adventure Diver certification. It’s a great opportunity to work with your instructor to build your scuba skills and gain more confidence. Get a taste of what you like and enjoy scuba diving more than ever.

Get credit! Each Adventure Dive may credit toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Course. If you’ve already taken a specialty diver course, ask your instructor if you’ve earned credit for an Adventure Dive.

PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 10 years old and want to take the next step should enroll in an Adventure Diver course. Young divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives – check with your PADI Instructor



What You Learn

The PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver course consists of 2 main phases:

Once the student successfully completes both components of their training, they will have earned their PADI Advanced Open Water or Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver certification. Is good for life!

What Is Traditional Academics?

Traditional academics begin with home study followed by a short session with your instructor in the classroom.

Home Study

You begin the academics in the comfort of your own home. Once you sign up for the course, you will receive all the academic materials needed to complete the home study portion of your course.

Step One: You will start the home study portion of your PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver course by watching the related specialty course videos.

Step two: You will need to read all five specialties and complete all five knowledge reviews at the end of each specialty in your PADI adventures in diving course manual to prepare you for your next step.

Classroom

Step Three: Begins with a short knowledge review session of the related adventure dives.

Step Four: equipment evaluation and preparation for the next day’s adventure dives.

2. Online Academics (at an additional charge)

What Is Online Academics?

The PADI online academics program is great for students who are short on time. You will complete all of your academics in the comfort of your own home at your own pace. There are additional costs associated with the PADI online academic program.

Step one: Call the shop to receive your academic training code

Step two: Log onto the PADI online system and complete your online academics

Step three: During the scheduled classroom academic session. You will come into the shop and take a quiz that will verify you have completed your online academics. As per PADI standards each student is required to purchase their own online training code.



Advanced Open Water Training Dives

There are a total of 5 Advanced Open Water training dives. In our program there are 3 Advanced Open Water beach training dives and 2 Advanced Open Water boat training dives. Once you have completed the five adventure dives you will have earned your PADI Advanced or Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver certification.

Beach Dive Series 3 Dives:

Dive 1. Underwater Navigation Dive 2. Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive 3. Drift Diver

Boat Dive Series 2 Dives:

1. Deep Diver Dive 2. Wreck Diver

Depths and Restrictions after Certification

PADI Advanced Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 15 and Older Are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 30m/100ft

PADI Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 15 to 17 Will need to be accompanied during all Scuba diving activities by a parent/guardian, certified Scuba diver who is of legal age 18 + or a PADI professional

PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 12 to 14 Are certified to dive to a maximum depth of 21m/70ft

PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Scuba Divers Ages 12 to 14 Will need to be accompanied during all Scuba diving activities by a parent/guardian, certified Scuba diver who is of legal age 18 + or a PADI professional

Personal Scuba Gear

New Gear

Stops do not go out and purchase Scuba gear from a third-party for your class. This could be an expensive mistake. New Scuba diving gear always requires minor adjustments and a safety inspection before it is used. If you have purchased your Scuba gear from a third-party either online or at another dive center and it has a malfunction during your class. You will have to pay to reschedule the portion of the class you missed due to your gear malfunction.

Used Gear

We do not accept gear that is Out of service, unsafe or damaged to be used in any of our programs. Equipment must be serviced annually to be considered in service. If you have any questions on whether the gear you have will be acceptable for this program, please contact us prior to class for a free gear evaluation. We service and repair Scuba gear. Safety First!
